The Chair called the meeting to order at 5:11 PM.

We acknowledge the land on which the County of Essex is located is the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibway, Odawa and Potawatomie Peoples.

We specifically recognize Caldwell First Nation and other First Nations which have provided significant historical and contemporary contributions to this region.

We also value the contributions of all Original Peoples of Turtle Island, who have been living and working on this land from time immemorial.

All members of the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee attended the meeting at the Essex County Civic Centre, Council Chambers.

There were no conflicts of pecuniary interest declared.

    That the minutes of the November 2, 2023 meeting of the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee be adopted as presented.

There were no delegations for the December 7, 2023 ECAAC Meeting.

Katherine provided the members with a draft script for the delegation to County Council. 

Following the review of the script, it was determined that Dennis Sanson, Debbie Alexander and Kimberly DeYong would provide the presentation.

Verbal update on the status of the County of Essex AODA Compliance Report submission was provided by Katherine Hebert.

Katherine explained that the Compliance Report had been submitted in November and all of the minimum requirements were adhered to.

Katherine further noted that a desk audit of the County of Essex was performed in 2021 and the County was in compliance.

    That the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee receive and adopt the proposed 2024 ECAAC Meeting Schedule.

Katherine Hebert provided an update from the County of Essex Emergency Exercise. Debbie Alexander attended the exercise on behalf of the ECAAC to observe the operations. Emergency exercises take place, at minimum, on an annual basis.

The ECAAC would provide a delegation at the Essex County Council Regular meeting on December 20, 2023.

The next regular committee meeting of the ECAAC would be February 8, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Essex County Civic Centre Council Chambers.
